Leesburg Police Department Deputy Chief of Police Grigsby Presented SAR Law Enforcement Commendation

On Tuesday, December 23, the Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter, Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution presented retiring Leesburg Deputy Chief of Police Major Vanessa Grigsby the Sons of the American Revolution Law Enforcement Commendation Award. The award consists of a Medal and certificate and is presented to Law Enforcement professionals for Outstanding Service to their Community.

Major Grigsby has served nearly 30 years of dedicated, outstanding service to the community of Leesburg, and Loudoun County. Twice, she served as interim Chief of Police. During her tenure she established, implemented and managed the Junior Police Academy, Leesburg Police Department Domestic Violence Protocol, and the False Alarm Reduction initiative. After graduation from Loudoun Valley High School she joined the United States Army, then joined the Leesburg Police Department. While a police officer she attended Kaplan University graduating with a bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Based on outstanding performance she was selected to attend the Virginia Tech Institute for Leadership in Changing Times, The University of Richmond Professional Executive Leadership School, and the FBI National Academy. She is committed to Community Engagement. She built lasting relationships with the Community, businesses and other Government Agencies at the Town, County, State and Federal levels. As a result of her performance she was inducted into the Loudoun County Women's Hall of Fame for Outstanding Leadership. Her long and impressive career with the Leesburg Police Department sets an example that will be hard to follow. Major Grigsby retires in early January 2026.
