Leesburg Restaurant Inspections: Paisano's, Buffalo Wild Wings

The Loudoun County Health Department cited violations at several facilities in Leesburg and western Loudoun during recent inspections.

LEESBURG, VA — Several restaurants around Leesburg, Lovettsville, and Purcellville recorded violations during recent inspections from the Loudoun County Health Department. The most recently published inspections occurred between April 13 and April 19.

Many COVID-19 restrictions around the state have relaxed, so health inspectors are returning to conduct some restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.

Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

      • Observed raw ground beef stored over ready-to-eat box cucumbers and box of peppers.
      • Observed time as a public health control being used for pizza sauce not marked or otherwise identified to indicate the time that is 4 hours past the point in time when the food was removed from temperature control. Repeat violation.
      • Observed sanitizer bucket with wiping cloth at 500PPM Quaternary ammonium. Also observed 2 damp wiping cloths resting on equipment.

      • Observed: Temperatures exceed 41F for prep table items in back of kitchen (hot dogs 56F, raw chicken 55) and front dessert case.
      • Observed: Two refrigeration units are not holding cold holding temperatures properly.

      • Observed grocery bags used to store foods.
      • Person in charge could not provide chlorine test strips for the 3 compartment sink.
      • Observed the guard in the ice machine with build up soil residue.
  • Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar #289, 524 Ft. Evans Rd Leesburg, VA 20176
    • Date inspected: April 14
    • Total violations: 2
      • At the time of the inspection, the hand sink located adjacent to the frying station did not have a working paper towel dispenser.
      • Observed sliced cheese recording consistent temperatures of 44 F in prep cooler near grill.
  • Rodeo's Mexican Grill, 26 D East Broadway, Suite 100 Lovettsville, VA 20180
    • Date inspected: April 15
    • Total violations: 5
      • Observed hard shell corn tortillas stored in a cardboard box soiled with grease. Cardboard box was in contact with the hard shell tortillas. Cardboard box is not non-absorbent, smooth and easily cleanable
      • Observed ice in bulk ice machine being used as a coolant for employee drink.
      • Observed cut tomato salsa and sliced tomatoes cold holding at improper temperatures in the prep unit. Food items were above the fill line and observed at 52F and 53F. Repeat violation.
      • Observed homemade cheese sauce hot holding at improper temperature. Homemade cheese sauce observed at 102F. Repeat violation.
      • Observed no verifiable manner that employees are aware, to report to the person in charge (PIC), information about their health and activities as it relates to diseases that are transmissible through food. Repeat violation.
