A complimentary yoga class was offered at Happy SouL Yoga last Friday following a ribbon cutting ceremony, which officially welcomed the new business into Leesburg.
Owners and close friends Colleen Gustavson and Mindy Piland opened the doors to the new yoga studio on Jan. 7.
It is the area’s first studio that caters to all ages from birth to 100, offering “Mommy and ME” classes, after school yoga and “Fabulous Yoga” classes for those who prefer a gentle style of yoga.

“We wanted to open a yoga studio that was very family-friendly because we’re both mothers, we each have three children and we know that there is always a need of more places to do things with children,” Gustavson said. “We also wanted to open a yoga studio that had reasonable rates and was very warm, friendly and inviting so you wouldn’t be intimidated to step into a yoga studio if you’ve never done yoga before.”
Gustavson, who’s taught yoga for seven years, said everyone at the studio is “very laid back” In a time when everyone’s lives are so busy and hectic Happy SouL Yoga is the one place you can go to and unplug.

“There have been so many studies that it can improve your health and it’s just one hour that you can take for yourself,” she said, adding that you always leave feeling rested and rejuvenated.
Piland, who has been a yoga instructor for eight years, already owns a studio in Purcellville. She said it feels great to bring a new studio to Leesburg, where she originally received her certification.
“It feels so good to be back,” Piland said. “We could not be happier with the way that we’ve opened up to instant success. Everybody in the area is so welcoming and inviting. It’s been so awesome.”
Piland said she recommends yoga not only for the physical aspect of it but because it helps you to become a better person. It helps you to become more conscious about your health and fitness, she said, and is a fantastic way to get in shape.
