Local SAR Chapter in 16th Annual Northern Virginia Veterans Parade
The Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter joined with the Col. William Grayson Chapter in Manassas to celebrate Military Veterans
Manassas, VA sponsored the 16th Annual Northern Virginia Veterans Parade, held on Saturday, the 2nd of November. A float entered by the Loudoun County based Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter joined members of the Prince William County based Col. William Grayson Chapter, a member of the Providence Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and a member of the Providence Society Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R).
Barry Schwoerer, President of the Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter drove the truck that towed the float. Riders on the float included: Dr. Michael Weyler, 1st Vice President of the Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution (SAR); Dave Button, secretary Col Wm Grayson Chapter (CWG); Jodell Wilson, member Providence Chapter DAR; Jocelynn Wilson, President of the Providence Society C.A.R.
CWG members Jeff Sterling and CWG president Michael Wilson carried the CWG Banner. CWG Color Guard Commander Andrew Mills led the parade of flags carried by CWG Members Bill Groff, Ray Hawkins, John Huddleston, and Mel Hurley. For the SAR team, the parade started on Quarry road, turned left onto Prescott Street and right onto Center Street. The parade terminated at the Pavilion on Center Street after progressing through Old Town Manassas.
