Local SAR Chapter Float in Winchester Christmas Parade

The Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter joined with Compatriots from Col. James Wood II SAR and the Fort Loudoun Chapter DAR in Winchester

The Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter from Loudoun County participated in the Winchester Christmas Parade on Monday, December 2. The parade wound through downtown Winchester on a cold evening. Float owner Warner Workman drove the tow vehicle. Chapter President Barry Schwoerer rode the float along with two ladies from the Fort Loudoun Chapter DAR and two compatriots from the Col James Wood II Chapter Virginia SAR. Representing Fort Loudoun DAR were Regent Susan Lauer and Diane Hobbs. Representing the Col James Wood II chapter were Brian Bayliss and Richard Tyler.

As the float progressed down the parade route a 1/3 size replica Liberty Bell was rung both to ring in the Christmas Season and to "let liberty ring Throughout the Land".
