Local SAR Chapter helps Honor WWII Vet John Psaris

Saturday Morning, 4 October, a procession of vehicles of all types formed a parade sponsored by “Chariots of Honor” to recognize, and celebrate the 100th birthday of Sergeant John G. Psaris, United States Army Air Corps, one of the few remaining WWII Veterans.

From 1943 to 1945 Sergeant Psaris served in the Army Air Corps flying bombing missions against targets in Germany. He flew missions in the B-17 Flying Fortress and B-25 Mitchell bombers as a flight engineer and as assistant engineer on the B-29 Superfortress bomber. As flight engineer he was also responsible for operating guns in the the top turret.

The Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter VA Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) joined the parade with a Patriotic float decorated to honor Veterans. The float is owned, and was driven, by Compatriot Warner Workman who considers it an honor and privilege to decorate and operate the float to recognize Veterans of all wars, including the War of the Revolution.
