Local SAR Chapter Participated in Sign Dedication in Stephens City

Multiple chapters of Sons, Daughters and Children of the American Revolution joined at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church to dedicate a Pomeroy Foundation Sign honoring at least three Patriots of the American Revolution buried in the nearby cemetery. The Loudoun County based Sgt Maj John Champe (SMJC) Chapter was represented by President Barry Schwoerer, Past President and Virginia SAR 3rd Vice President Ken Bonner, and junior member Jacob Schwoerer. Mr. Schwoerer led the Color Guard with his musket, Mr. Bonner carried the Flag of the United States, and Jacob Schwoerer carried the National SAR Flag. Following the dedication ceremony Mr. Schwoerer presented the SMJC Chapter wreath honoring the Patriots buried in the cemetery.

The event was sponsored by the Colonel James Wood II (CJW-II) Chapter serving the Northern Shenandoah Valley. Virginia SAR President Dr. William "Bill" Greaf brought greetings on behalf of all members of Virginia SAR. Virginia SAR Chapters participating included: CJW-II, SMJC, George Mason, Col. Wm. Grayson, George Washington. Maryland SAR was represented by the Sgt. Lawrence Everhart Chapter. DAR Chapters represented included: Virginia DAR/SAR/SR Liaison Chair, Lanes Mill, Providence, and Pack Horse Ford WV DAR. C.A.R Societies represented included: Providence, Rev John Marks.
