Local SAR Chapter Participates in Middletown Christmas Parade

Sunday, 3 December: a float owned by a Sgt Maj John Champe Compatriot joined Col James Wood II Chapter for the Middletown Christmas parade

The Sgt Maj John Champe (SMJC) Float traveled to Middletown to join the Col James Wood II (CJW-II) chapter for the Christmas parade on Sunday, 3 December. Warner Workman, owner of the float, and Barry Schwoerer, both wearing Revolutionary War militia clothing, represented the SMJC Chapter. They were joined by Richard Rankin from the George Washington Chapter and nine members of the CJW-II Chapter. CJW-II members were: Bryan Buck, Eric Robinson, Chip Daniel, Marc Robinson, Richard Tyler, Sean Carrigan, Dale Corey, Paul Christensen, and Brian Bayliss, all in Revolutionary War attire, either Regimental uniform or Militia.

The float was decorated to commemorate Christmas while retaining a Revolutionary war message. Three Virginia founding fathers were represented in graphics: George Washington in the famous picture of Crossing the Delaware and images of Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson. A replica 1/3 sized liberty bell was rung as the float traversed the parade route and Lady liberty stood watch over the event.
