Local SAR Chapter welcomes Veterans at Dulles Airport

The Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter VA SAR was part of a SAR team welcoming a Chicago Honor Flight of 114 Vietnam Veterans

The Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter Virginia SAR had the honor of welcoming 114 Vietnam Veterans as they arrived from Chicago at the main terminal at Dulles International Airport. The Chapter joined with the Georgetown University ROTC cadet Honor Guard, the Transportation Security Agency Honor Guard, and many other organizations to give the veterans a rousing WELCOME and THANK YOU.

The average age of the veterans was 78, the oldest 91. There were 17 Veterans of the United States Air Force, 62 Veterans of the United States Army, 17 Veterans of the United States Navy, and 18 Veterans of the United States Marine Corps. There was one female Vietnam Veteran.

Representing the Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter were Mark Sink, Steve Van Deusen and Barry Schwoerer. Jim Cordes represented the Fairfax Resolves Chapter and Paul Christensen represented the Colonel James Wood II Chapter.
