LEESBURG, VA — Loudoun County is again offering local residents the opportunity to purchase select items in an online auction that is made possible due to a surplus of items that are purchased specifically for public agencies.
The auction, which began Monday, runs through 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 14 and includes tire cables designed to provide traction on slippery roads, children’s toys, children’s DVDs and Blu-Ray discs, laptop computers and other items, county officials announced on Tuesday. The items are made available through Public Surplus, which was created to provide the public agencies with items. Although the auction is available to the general public, anyone interested in bidding on items must be registered at www.publicsurplus.com. Registration for the site is free but buyers must pay a 9.75 percent premium for all items. Loudoun County government and school employees are subject to bidding limitations under the terms and conditions of the auction, which are included on the Public Surplus site.
