Loudoun County SAR Chapter at Apple Blossom Parade
The Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter VA SAR participated in the parade in Wincheste
The 98th annual Apple Blossom Festival parade was held on Saturday, March 3, 2025 on the streets in Old Town Winchester. A float owned by Sgt Maj John Champe Compatriot Warner Workman participated. The float was decorated in a patriotic motif with a miniature Liberty Bell rung as the float progressed, and a miniature Lady Liberty, as well as displays of founding fathers and founding documents of the United States.
Riding the float were Susan Lauer, Barbara Magille and Diane Hobbs from the Fort Loudoun Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution; Paul Parrish from the Daniel Morgan Chapter Virginia SAR, Barry Schwoerer from the Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter Virginia SAR, and Ryan Williams from the Col. James Wood II chapter Virginia SAR. Ryan Williams was dressed as surveyor George Washington pretended to use an antique surveying instrument as the float progressed on the parade route. Mr. Parrish provided the 18thcentury “Circumferentor”, a surveying instrument used by Washington when he surveyed land.
