Loudoun County SAR Chapter Honors Unknown Revolutionary War soldier
The Tomb of the Unknown Rev War Soldier at the Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Alexandria was the site of honors to the unknown Soldier
Monday, 19 February was a cold winter morning when multiple chapters of Daughters of the American Revolution, Sons of the American Revolution, and the President of the Virginia Society Children of the American Revolution came together to honor the Unknown Revolutionary War Soldier at the cemetery in the rear of the Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Alexandria. A Color Guard of men dressed in the uniforms of the Revolution presented colors to open the ceremony. Organizations presented wreaths in honor of the Unknown Soldier and attendees were given the opportunity to lay white roses on the Unknown soldiers tomb.
Virginia SAR President Bill Greaf led the procession of Sons of the American Revolution and laid the Virginia SAR wreath in honor of the soldier. Barry Schwoerer represented the Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter from Loudoun County. Mr. Schwoerer stood as an honor guard and laid a white rose on the soldier's tomb.
