A Loudoun County woman died after being taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound Wednesday, and her husband was found shot and dead the next morning.
Loudoun County sheriff's deputies found the woman after being called to a home on West Washington Street in Middleburg about 10 p.m. Wednesday, The Washington Post reported. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.
About 12 hours later, deputies were called back to the home, the Post reported, where they found the woman's husband dead of a gunshot wound.
A spokesman for the sheriff's office told the paper that autopsies were being performed and that "it appears to be a tragic set of circumstances."
