Loudoun Sheriff Kicks Off Annual Toy Drive For Cole's Closet

The toy drive benefits children hospitalized over the holidays.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office in partnership with nonprofit organization Cole's Closet recently kicked off its annual Santa Ride toy drive benefiting children while they are in the hospital.

Last year, Loudoun County residents helped the sheriff's office collect more than 1,500 toys for the event. Residents are asked to help again this year by donating new, unwrapped toys for children ages infant to 17 years. Toys will be accepted from now through Dec. 20.

Toys can be dropped off Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at any of the following locations:

Cole's Closet was created in 2002 by Ellen and Steve Tomczyk after they spent four months in and out of area hospitals with their son, Cole, who died at six months old due to an undiagnosed brain disease.

A year after Cole passed away, the Tomczyks started a toy drive at a family holiday party and since then they have donated thousands of new toys to area hospitals. For more information about Cole’s Closet, visit www.colescloset.org.
