McDaniel College Elects Stephen (Steve) R. Chapin, Jr., to Board of Trustees

Steve Chapin of Leesburg, Va., owns JARS Residential Properties and founded LidfeMinders.com, an online direct marketing company

McDaniel College has named Stephen (Steve) R. Chapin, Jr., of Leesburg, Va., to its board of trustees.

An entrepreneur with more than 20 years of business leadership experience, Chapin founded LifeMinders.com, an online direct marketing company, which was sold to Cross Media Marketing. He is currently the owner of JARS Residential Properties, which owns and manages more than 1,500 apartments throughout the Southeast, and he teaches in the economics and business administration department at McDaniel College. He also previously served as an associate for McKinsey and Company, a worldwide management consulting firm.

He attended the U.S. Naval Academy, graduating with distinction, and served in the Navy as the Secretary of the Navy’s liaison to the House of Representatives and as a Surface Warfare Officer aboard USS Doyle (FFG-39). He earned a master’s degree from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Chapin and his wife, Julie, have three sons. He is also an avid runner and serves on the Church Council of Leesburg United Methodist Church.
