Medical Examiner Rules Leesburg Infant's Death Was Homicide: Media Report

No charges filed; Leesburg police continuing investigation.

A medical examiner in the District of Columbia has ruled that the death of a Leesburg infant last fall was a homicide, according to a Washington TV station.

WRC Channel 4 reported Wednesday that the medical examiner determined that 10-month-old Devyn Ellis died of blunt impact head trauma. No charges have been filed in the case.

The Leesburg Police Department has been investigating the case since Devyn died on Oct. 5 at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington. On Wednesday, the department issued the following statement regarding the case:

“A thorough and complete investigation is being conducted by the Leesburg Police Department in coordination with the Loudoun County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. We are prepared to move forward with the case; however, we have not received the official written report from the District of Columbia’s Medical Examiner’s Office. The case remains under active investigation.”
