Heavenly God, source of all truth, creator of our world, and author of liberty, we invoke your holy presence here today to guide us in our work on this National Day of Prayer.
We give thanks unto you for the many blessings you have bestowed upon our Commonwealth and pray that your Holy Spirit may guide us and strengthen us in the pathway of righteousness so that your divine will may be manifested in the work of our elected officials and so that the just causes of unity, peace and concord, and the preservation of our liberty may be furthered thereby.
God, you have revealed yourself to us in many ways and we have called you by many names: El Shaddai, Yahweh, Adonai, Jehovah, and the Great I Am. Yet, we know that no name can accurately describe your majesty and that our ability to discern your will is limited by our mortal shortcomings. For that reason, we pray that your grace may come upon us like a strong wind and lead us and lift us up to do your work in this place.
Father, we know that we are not terrestrial creatures enjoying a spiritual life, but are instead spiritual creatures living a terrestrial and transitory life on this Earth. As creatures of your spirit and heirs to your eternal kingdom, may we receive your grace. For we acknowledge that the words of your Apostle Paul are true and that it is by grace through faith that we have been saved and that this is not from ourselves, but is the gift of God.
May the peace of God that surpasseth all understanding keep the hearts and minds of our elected leaders directed toward his service through their work on behalf of our citizens in our Nation, our Commonwealth, our County, and our Town, and
May the blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all, this day in this place and for the rest of our lives and,
May we all dwell in the house of The Lord forever.
Amen.

Note: All were cordially invited to join the tradition of great presidents and leaders throughout American history, who beseeched God’s blessing on our country in times of need.
The National Day of Prayer is an unprecedented opportunity to seek the Lord’s healing and renewing power made manifest as we call on citizens to humbly come before His throne. The theme for 2015 is Lord, Hear Our Cry, emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men.
“Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence this day.” I Kings 8:28
