New Antenatal Testing Center Comes to Inova Loudoun

Inova Loudoun showed of its new Antenatal Testing Center during an open house Thursday, April 26. 

The center, which officially opened April 12, offers the latest technology for evaluating and monitoring high-risk pregnancies, which might include women who have diabetes, high blood pressure or cardiac diseases, among other things.

During the event, Patient Care Director for Labor and Delivery and Perinatal Services Cindy Andrejasich said that women will now have the ability to receive antenatal, or prenatal, testing in Loudoun County. In the past, patients would have to travel to Inova Fairfax Hospital, she said, in order to receive these services.

“Fairfax is wonderful and we will continue to utilize Fairfax,” Andrejasich said. “However, to have an opportunity where we’re able to say ‘You don’t have to go to Fairfax for everything. Come to us. Let us offer these services for you,’ it’s a wonderful thing.”

The center features consultation areas, three non-stress testing stations and ultrasound/diagnostic rooms.

Tests will be able to detect or monitor health problems in the fetus and establish fetal characteristics, including age, gender and weight.

Other services include, but are not limited to, obstetric consultations, 3D/4D ultrasounds for medical indications, first-trimester genetic screening and prenatal diagnostic procedures.

“This is something where we are, for the first time, really having an opportunity to offer this level of services to our patients here in Loudoun County and that’s what we’re so excited about,” Andrejasich said. “We’re a community hospital, but as part of Inova’s system we have amazing resources and this is a perfect example.”
