New mural at Leesburg Premium Outlets

A public art mural designed and painted by Leilani Romero is just about done and will greet shoppers at the entrance to the Leesburg Premium Outlets.

Romero, a Leesburg resident and owner of Leilani Design House LLC, was selected from among 18 art candidates who submitted designs to the Leesburg Commission on Public Art to paint the latest public mural for the Town of Leesburg. Painting began in August.

Romero’s post card design shows Leesburg's historic courthouse, the downtown business district, an American Dogwood flower, the Virginia cardinal, and the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly. An archway in the design provides space for visitors to shoot selfies under the words “Leesburg Virginia.”

The Town, the Friends of Leesburg Public Arts and the Leesburg Commission on Public Art have partnered to create a number of murals in Leesburg, including a bike mural in the Town's public garage, a rail-themed mural at the South King Street bridge, the flourish and growth mural at 204 Liberty St., the Harrison Street mural, the Discover the Charm mural on the side of a town-owned building at the Liberty Street parking lot, and the Maverick Bicycles mural in the Virginia Village Shopping Center.
