Oatlands Historic House and Gardens​ Announces Events

Homeschool History Day, Grandparents' Afternoon Tea and Quilting Afternoon Tea are some of the activities listed near Leesburg for Oatlands.

What: The following events will be taking place at Oatlands in September.

  • Oatlands’ Gift Shop Super Sale will be held Aug. 28 – Sept. 9. The special clearance sale is the perfect opportunity to stock up on Christmas ornaments, garden items and decorative accessories at discounted prices! Gift shop hours during the sale: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday –Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Call 703-777-3174 for additional information.
  • On Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., visit Oatlands for Homeschool History Day. This is a special opportunity for homeschooling families to learn about life in the 1800s while touring the gardens and grounds of Oatlands. Tickets are $5 per person and free for children under 3.   • On Sept. 11, visit Oatlands for a special Grandparents' Afternoon Tea. Tea will be held from 1-3 p.m. in the historic Carriage House. Attire for tea is casual. Tea includes assorted sandwiches, scones and delicious sweets and Oatlands’ special afternoon tea blend. Oatlands’ special tea blend is available for purchase in the gift shop. Teas require advance reservation and purchase. Teas are $29.95 plus tax per person ages 3 and up. To make a reservation please call, 703-777-3174.
  • On Sept. 24 at 1 p.m., visit Oatlands for a special presentation by Colonial Williamsburg Interpreter Gerry Underdown. The presentation will address how Robert Carter III’s faith journey affected his relationship to slavery. Tickets are $ 20 for adults and $5 for children 6-16.   • On Sept. 25, visit Oatlands for a special Quilting Afternoon Tea. Tea will be held from 1-3 p.m. in the historic Carriage House. Attire for tea is casual. Directions: From Washington, DC take the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) west to exit 1A in Leesburg and follow signs for Route 15 south. Travel six miles south on Route 15 to Oatlands on the left.
