Station 20 opened its doors to the local community on Saturday to help raise public awareness regarding fire safety.

The Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department hosted its annual open house on Saturday, Oct. 6 where attendees were able to learn about fire safety and prevention throughout the day.

A life safety trailer was available for learning how to evacuate your house when a smoke detector sounds and educational packets were handed out to every child. A vehicle rescue demonstration was held, including tours of the station and apparatus. There was even a live landing of a medical transport helicopter and free rides on two of the station's fire trucks.

The event is held every October and helps raise public awareness about fire safety in celebration of Emergency Fire Prevention Week.
