Police Investigate Report Of Possible Gunfire Near High School

LEESBURG, VA — A school resource officer (SRO) at Tuscarora High School in Leesburg received a report around noon Monday of the sound of possible gunfire in the area, according to the Leesburg Police Department. The SRO coordinated with the Leesburg police and Loudoun County Public Schools officials to investigate the report.

Police officers checked the area but were unable to determine where the noise came from or if what was heard was gunfire. The Leesburg police and the SRO will continue to monitor the area during the school day, the police tweeted Monday.

Tuscarora High School, located north of downtown Leesburg on North King Street, has about 1,500 students. It lists one SRO and two security officers on its website.
