Pure Moxie Adds Fashion Flair to Leesburg

Best friends Mindy Moskowitzand Jackie Cochran talked for years about opening their own clothing boutique. 

And when Moskowitz moved to Leesburg in June they got their chance, stumbling upon a storefront available in town for rent.

The store, Pure Moxie, opened Aug. 3. The boutique focuses on clothing, jewelry, handbags, scarves and other accessories for the over 30 crowd.  Many of their selections are from local and emerging designers, and not normally found in large department stores.

Some of their local designers include Kim Schalk, Dawn Williams (Mon-Chi Haus) and Meagan Kurtz (ADMK Jewelry).  ADMK jewelry has been featured in national magazines such as “O” and Lucky.

Moskowitz has a background in fashion merchandising, having previously worked for designer Michael Kors.  Both Moskowitz and Cochran say they have a natural flair for fashion and an interest in helping people design their style.

“One of our specialties is styling advice. We are happy to not only help you shop here in the store, but also go to your home and work with you to help figure out what to keep in your closet,” Moskowitz said.

“We can also help plan an outfit for a party.  We always have good ideas even if we don’t have the right outfit in the store,” she added.

So far, Moskowitz says that business has been going well and is steady.  They have “a great relationship” with their neighbors, including Sugar Magnolia and Night Gallery. 

“When we do our buying, we want to complement each other,” Moskowitz said.

They are looking forward to the next First Friday event Dec. 5, when they will feature wine tastings from Hidden Brook Winery and new jewelry from Meagan Kurtz.

“We want people to feel like they are welcome to come in and have a great experience here, with no pressure,” Cochran said.
