Raiders Boys JV Lacrosse Defeat Vikings

"Stingy" ball defense and control credited with giving the Raiders victory

In a contest of teams whose mascots have the connotation of plundering from civilized communities, it was Leesburg boys who snatched victory when they travelled to Purcellville on Monday.

The Loudoun County High Raiders Boys JV Lacrosse team scored a 5-2 victory over the Loudoun Valley High Vikings on Monday.

According to their head coach, Dennis O'Hara, the Raiders’ offense and defense was strong in the first half, bringing the score to 4 -0 at halftime.

In the second half, the Raiders overcame the Vikings physicality and intensity with “stingy ball defense and ball control,” insuring a 5 – 2 victory.

“The Raider’s man-down defense continues to shine, refusing to allow any goals in the first three games of the season,” O’Hara said. “Goalie D’Marco McElkinney denied the Vikings on several occasions with his athleticism in the cage.”
