Round Hill Fire Leaves 2 Firefighters Injured, Causes $1M In Damages
A fire at a home in Round Hill on Monday left two firefighters injured and caused approximately $1 million in damages, authorities said.

ROUND HILL, VA — A fire in Round Hill left two firefighters injured on Monday evening, Loudoun County Fire and Rescue officials said. The fire also caused approximately $1 million in damages, according to authorities.
Investigators are still trying to determine what could have caused the blaze. The fire displaced six people, who are now staying with family members in the area.
The two firefighters were evaluated at an area hospital, the fire department said. Officials did not provide any further information about their injuries.

The fire broke out around 6:45 p.m. on Monday in the 17300 block of Smokey View Court in Round Hill. The original 911 call mentioned that some people may be stuck in the burning home.
"Upon arrival, firefighters found visible fire from the front of the house, smoke from the eaves, and requested additional resource," Loudoun fire and rescue officials said. "While most of the fire was involving the garage area of the home, fire was quickly extending into other areas of the home to include the attic."

The fire department also noted that the residents were able to self evacuate.
Firefighters began attacking the fire from the outside before working their way inside to keep the blaze from spreading. Fire officials said the blaze had spread to multiple floors and the attic. Crews also noted that a collapse was possible due to the fire damage.
Authorities said the damages included $624,525 in structural damages and $374,715 in damage to the home's contents.
"Working smoke alarms were present and sounded as designed, alerting those inside and neighboring homes," Loudoun County Fire and Rescue officials said.
