Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter participated in Thomas Jefferson's birthday Commemoration
The Commemoration of Thomas Jefferson took place at the Jefferson Memorial at the Tidal Basin in Washington DC

April 13, 2026 – The Sgt. Maj. John Champe Chapter of the Virginia Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) was represented by Past President Kenneth Bonner at the 283rd birthday commemoration of Thomas Jefferson, held at the Jefferson Memorial along the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C.
The ceremony was presented by the District of Columbia Sons of the American Revolution in cooperation with the National Park Service and the Military District of Washington. The event brought together SAR members, dignitaries, and guests to honor the life and legacy of Thomas Jefferson, principal author of the Declaration of Independence and third President of the United States.
During the ceremony, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution wreath was presented by President General Michael J. Elston, Esq., as part of the official tribute.
