Sgt Maj John Champe SAR Chapter awards Essay Contest Winner

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technolgy Freshman, won the Chapter Essay Contest

Miss Ojasvi Ramani, Freshman at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology won the Sgt Maj John Champe (SMJC) Chapter essay contest for the 2025-2026 school year. She was awarded a check for $250 and a certificate. Her essay topic was: The Boston Tea Party; How Symbolic Acts can Shape a Revolution.

The presentation was made by Sgt Maj John Champe President Barry Schwoerer and Past President SMJC Chapter Ken Bonner.

The National Society Sons of the American Revolution sponsors the High School Essay and Speech (oration ) contests, the High School and Middle School video contest, the Middle School Brochure contest, and the elementary school poster contest. Contests are administered at the chapter level. Chapter winners are submitted to a state coordinator for judging against submissions from the other 30 SAR chapter in Virginia. The Virginia SAR winner is then submitted to the National SAR coordinator for judging against all state submissions. Details may be found at the Virginia SAR website: virginiasar.org
