Sinkhole Under Repair in Exeter Neighborhood
Approximately 65 townhomes on Currant, Clove, Peppermill and Warrenton Terraces are without water service.

Town of Leesburg contractors were working Monday to repair a sinkhole on Currant Terrace NE.
The sinkhole had opened up Sunday morning, creating a 30 feet wide and 40 feet long hole, with the road sinking about 3 feet, according to town officials.
Water service was cut to approximately 65 townhomes on Currant, Clove, Peppermill and Warrenton Terraces are without water service. The town hopes to have service restored by Monday evening.

Currant Terrace is a private street, owned and maintained by the Exeter Homeowners Association. In order to expedite the repairs, the Town of Leesburg has contracted with Madigan Construction to excavate the sinkhole and repair the street and adjacent sidewalk.
Once the sinkhole is fully excavated, town utilities staff will assess needed repairs to water and sewer lines, which may require additional interruptions in service.

Full repairs are expected to take up to a week to complete. Exeter HOA will reimburse the Town for the repair work.
