Sugar Magnolia Finds a New Home in Downtown Leesburg

Downtown Leesburg has become home to a new clothing boutique, Sugar Magnolia, located at 109 South King Street. It has taken over the space previously held by , which moved just a few blocks down to 16 South King Street. It is in the same building as , a new silk flower shop and art gallery.

Sugar Magnolia was previously located in Shepherdstown, WV for the past two years and moved to Leesburg so the owner could be closer to their home in Sterling.

The trendy, affordable shop is owned by Maryanna Conboy and opened on March 31. Conboy’s daughter, Megan, also works there and has a real talent for assisting people with their fashion needs.

“Megan is the one who has a really good eye to pick things out, pulling together accessories, and figuring out what looks good on people”, Conboy said.

The idea for the clothing shop came about after years of working in the furniture wholesale business, Conboy said. She wanted to work with something she enjoyed – clothing, jewelry and fashion.

The shop may be small in size, but it is filled with dresses and tops, pants, scarves, handbags and belts, all mostly under the $50 price range. There is also a nice array of jewelry to check out, many items are under $20. Some of the jewelry is handmade, some is ordered from vendors, but it is all specially selected by Maryanna and Megan to go with the shops "look," which would appeal to a variety of age groups.

“Good things come in small spaces," says Conboy. “We have new things every week and so the inventory is always changing. The jewelry and dresses are the most popular."

There are three other women’s clothing boutiques in downtown Leesburg, all with different styles, yet “they are a nice complement to each other," Conboy said.

Sugar Magnolia is looking forward to being a part of the community of Leesburg. The store will be participating in the Leesburg Girls Night out on Thursday, April 19. They will be offering appetizers and 10 percent off all purchases that evening. Another special offer through the end of April is for every $25 you spend, you are entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card.
