Suspect Charged In Connection With Hotel Armed Robbery In Leesburg: Police
The Leesburg Police Department announced that a suspect has been charged in connection with a robbery at the Best Western hotel.
LEESBURG, VA — A 57-year-old man faces charges in connection with an armed robbery at a Leesburg hotel last month, the Leesburg Police Department announced on Wednesday. The robbery occurred at the Best Western hotel on June 22.
Authorities identified the suspect as Eugene Mitchell Jr.
Mitchell is charged with robbery, the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, eluding, and obtaining identifying information to avoid arrest, the police department said in a news release.

Mitchell is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, Leesburg police officials said.
If convicted of all charges, Mitchell could face more than 24 years in prison, based on Virginia sentencing guidelines.

The robbery occurred around 1 a.m. on Thursday morning at the hotel on Market Street in Leesburg. Police said a man armed with a handgun walked into the hotel and demanded cash. The cash was the only property reported missing, according to the police department.
