Teen Faces Possible Charges After Driving Into Pond

The 18-year-old Ashburn female was found unharmed after driving her SUV into a Lansdowne Pond.

Deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office responded to the intersection of Lansdowne Boulevard and Riverpoint Drive around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6 after it was reported that an SUV had driven through the intersection and into a nearby pond.

When deputies arrived on scene, the vehicle was 3/4 submerged, but the driver was nowhere to be found. Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene and searched the vehicle and pond confirming no one else was involved.

A LCSO K9 Unit, a Search and Rescue Unit and a Fairfax County Police Department helicopter responded to assist with the search. A Reverse 911 was initiated but not activated as the driver, an 18-year-old female from Ashburn, was located unharmed. She was taken to a local hospital for checkout. Charges are pending for reckless driving.
