The Dandelion Patch Has Arrived in Leesburg

The fine stationer opens its fourth store.

At a time when it seems that everything is going digital, The Dandelion Patch, has just opened its fourth fine stationary store.  The Villages at Leesburg is the new home for the Dandelion Patch, a company that opened in Vienna in 1994 and expanded over the years to include additional shops in Reston and Georgetown.

This trendy boutique offers an array of stationary from wedding invitations, bridal shower invitations, birth announcements, party invitations and letterpress printing as well as specialty gift items such as Trollbreads, Melissa and Doug toys, Danielson Design custom signs, champagne flutes, Vera Bradley bags and much more.

“What makes our store special is that we provide a high level of expertise, customization and one-on-one attention.  Our stationary is high quality and our one-of-a-kind gifts are non-mass marketed,” said Dandelion Patch owner, Heidi Kallett.

Kallett’s dream for The Dandelion Patch had always been to expand its size to 6-8 local stores.  In March 2010 when she saw a lift in the market, she decided it was time to take the next step.  As she and her real estate broker searched for opportunities, what she didn’t expect was that she would find two: one in Georgetown and one in Leesburg.

“We are so excited to be in Loudoun.  The future is bright,” said Kallett.

Because many of its Loudoun customers were driving to the Reston store, The Dandelion Patch is happy to be able to be closer to many of its customers. And not only are Kallett and her Patchets (what she affectionately refers to as her employees) excited to connect with a new base of customers, but also to develop partnerships with local wedding vendors.

“Loudoun’s wedding market is thriving and now that we are in Loudoun, we are looking forward to building relationships with all of these fine businesses,” said Kallett.

The Dandelion Patch is also a gathering place of its own.  It knows how to throw a party and there will be plenty of them held at the Leesburg store.

“I want The Dandelion Patch to become a gathering place for girlfriends; a place to bump into each other and have a great time,” Kallett explained.

The Villages of Leesburg is slowly adding more retail and commercial businesses to its development.  When the proposed movie theater opens in the shopping center, Kallett hopes that more people will be drawn into the shopping center.

But aside from being just a retail store alongside a string of others, The Dandelion Patch wants to become a destination.

“Although we’ve grown over the years, we are still a small, family business.  My life is wrapped into this and so is my heart,” said Kallett.

The Dandelion Patch is located at 1603 Village Market Blvd. SE Suite 114 in Leesburg.
