The Great Escape

Celebrate spring in downtown Leesburg with the Flower & Garden Festival.

Growing up in Leesburg, there were two big events: August Court Days and The Flower & Garden Festival. The latter is once again coming to Leesburg this weekend. It's the 21st iteration of the festival and will be filled with activities for the entire family.

Of course you can come and buy flowers, herbs and other plants, but the Flower & Garden festival is much more than a playground for the green-thumbed among us. For the adults, there's going to be a wine garden, where some of the area's best wineries and breweries will be sampling their products.

For the kids, there will be a children's stage where they can boogie down to Uncle Pete’s “Up with Kids.” There will also be an animal ambassador program that will allow your kids to get up close and personal with some amazing reptiles. The kids area will also have face painting and arts and crafts.

Throughout the festival, you'll be able to find different bands playing a variety of music including reggae, rock, folk and more.

The Leesburg Flower & Garden Festival runs rain or shine Saturday April 16 from 10-6, and Sunday April 17 from 10-5. Admission is $3 per person. Kids under 6 are free. For more information, visit flowerandgarden.org.
