Three Eagle Scouts Recognized at Court of Honor in Ashburn

Scout Troop 58 in Ashburn held an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for three outstanding young men on Friday. The event was held at St. David's Episcopal Church and School. The parents of each of the young men attended as well as grandparents, other family members and friends. Achievement of Eagle Scout is a major accomplishment that requires dedication, the support of a loving family, and strong leadership of scout masters in the troop. Roughly 2% of all scouts ever achieve Eagle Scout.

The Sgt Maj John Champe (SMJC) Chapter, Virginia SAR serves Loudoun County and is proud to recognize these three outstanding young men. Recognition means award of a Certificate of Accomplishment and presentation of a SAR-Scout patch recognizing a common purpose of Patriotism, honor to God, service to others, and building a strong community and family. In the presentation package were instructions on how to apply for the SAR Eagle Scout Scholarship. The Scholarship gives each new Eagle the opportunity to compete for a National SAR $10,000 scholarship to the first place winner, $7,000 for second place and $5,000 for third Place. SMJC Chapter President Barry Schwoerer made the presentations. He was accompanied by Charles Leftwich, Chapter Eagle Scout Committee Chairman. Charles and his son, Oliver, are part of Troop 58 and both were inducted into SAR on August 17.
