Top Seed Briar Woods Puts Up Perfect Game over Lady Raiders
Briar Woods' Jones Tosses Shut Out Over Loudoun County
The Lady Raiders traveled to take on Briar Woods High School on Tuesday night in the Dulles District semifinals. The Lady Falcons defeated Loudoun County 4-0 with a perfect game tossed by ace, Macy Jones.
Briar Woods’ Jones completely shut down the Raiders’ offense. Jones recorded eleven consecutive strikeouts in the first 3 2/3 innings. She commanded the game and faced the minimum amount of batters in seven innings.
The Falcons scored one run in the first inning off a double by Alexandra Fierszt. Lady Raiders pitcher, Kiley Jacobus, and the rest of the defense kept it to only a one run deficit for most of the ballgame. But the Falcons capitalized on a few Raiders’ errors throughout the game, one of which came in the bottom of the fifth to score run number two.

The Falcons struck again in the sixth inning. A base hit to right center field, by Briar Woods’ Fowler, knocked in a base runner. Fowler also scored on the play, as a throwing error by the Lady Raiders, allowed the triple to be turned into an inside the parker.
While the Lady Raiders defensively did keep it a close game they could not get their bats going against the dominant, Jones.
