Town Council Chooses Not to Support Pipeline Option

The Town Council voted five to two Tuesday night to not support a pipeline to the Raspberry Falls community. Council members Tom Dunn and Dave Butler dissented.

The conversation remained similar to Monday night’s in regards to the potential price tag, possible plant expansion, higher taxes and a number of other unknowns as reasons against supplying the water.

The future of Raspberry Falls’ water supply is now in the hands of Loudoun Water.

The Town Council did approve the following:

• A resolution allowing the Leesburg Police Station to construct a Technical Support Building contract to Roy C. Kline Contractors in the amount of $766,993.00. The project will expand and renovate the current technical support building, which provides the function of evidence storage and crime scene analysis for the town’s police department, to approximately 4,000 square feet.
• A resolution accepting public improvements, releasing the performance guarantee and approving the maintenance guarantee for public improvements at Oaklawn Townhouses.
• A resolution approving the next Town Hall Art Gallery Exhibit, which will be displayed by Jennifer DeAngelo.
• An ordinance amending the Town Code Chapter 34 (Utilities) Articles II and III to reflect changes to the State Code as a result of the 2012 General Assembly as well as to update existing water and sewer charges and publish the new water and sewer charges in Section 34 of Appendix B.
