Traffic Alert: Sheriff's Office, State Police To Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint Tonight
It's part of Loudoun County's efforts to prevent DUI-related crashes, says sheriff.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a joint sobriety checkpoint with the Virginia State Police beginning at 10 p.m. Friday.
Law enforcement officials around the country have implemented education and enforcement efforts, including sobriety checkpoints, to ensure the roads are safe for all motorists by achieving voluntary compliance with the drinking and driving laws, the sheriff’s office said.
In Loudoun County, DUI-related crashes have decreased by 28 percent over the past two years, the sheriff’s office said.

“Our enforcement efforts are working,” Sheriff Mike Chapman said in a statement. “This decrease in DUI-related crashes is evidence that fewer people are getting behind the wheel while intoxicated.”
Members of the Sheriff’s Office Auxiliary Unit and volunteers from the Loudoun Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will assist with the checkpoint.
