Bicyclist Injured in Wreck With Trailer Near Leesburg

Rider was airlifted with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

A bicyclist was injured when a trailer made contact with his bike Wednesday evening near Leesburg, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

At 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to the area of Old Waterford Road and Nestlewood Road.

A Leesburg man was driving a 2002 Ford F150 pickup truck heading northwest on Old Waterford Road. The cyclist, of Alexandria, was traveling southeast on Old Waterford Road.

The trucker was hauling a trailer and it’s believed that the trailer made contact with the bicycle near the intersection with Nestlewood Road, according to a LCSO release.

The cyclist was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital. He is in stable condition and his injuries are non-life-threatening.

Alcohol, drugs and speed aren’t factors in the crash.
