Two Graves of Patriots of the American Revolution marked in Richmond

On Friday, February 9, 2024 fifteen Chapters of the Virginia Society Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), four chapters of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Providence Society Children of the American Revolution, the Virginia Order of Founders and Patriots, and the Society of the Descendants of Washington's Army at Valley Forge came together at Historic Shockoe Cemetery in Richmond to commemorate two Patriots of the American Revolution. The event was sponsored by the Richmond Chapter, Virginia SAR. Captain Philip Slaughter and Sergeant James Vaughn were honored and eulogized by ancestors. Wreaths were presented by participants. A single-shot musket volley was executed to honor the Patriots.

The Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter from Loudoun County was represented by immediate Past President Ken Bonner, President Barry Schwoerer, and Vice-President Mark Sink. Compatriot Bonner performed as Color Guard Commander for Advancing and presenting colors. Compatriot Schwoerer performed as Honor Guard Commander, Musket Squad commander, and fired in the single-volley. Compatriot sink stood as honor guard and fired in the musket volley.
