Village at Leesburg Hosts First Mega Block Ice Carving Competition
Competition was part of 2nd Annual Winter Ice Fest.

Eight world-class ice carvers went head to head on Saturday as Village at Leesburg hosted its 2nd Annual Winter Ice Fest and first ever Mega Block Ice Carving Competition. The competition, sanctioned by the National Ice Carving Association, began at 9 am and continued on until 7 pm when the entries were illuminated and a winner was announced.
Results of the competition were as follows: Todd Dawson of Raleigh, NC and his piece “Majestic” placed first; Victor Dagatan of Marietta, GA and his Aquaman piece were runners up; and Greg Butauski of Columbus, OH finished third with his T-Rex carving. Jeff Meyers of Cleveland, OH and his “Trout Out Of Water” piece came in fourth; Edwin Hutchinson of Greenville, SC placed fifth for his Water-Power Walker piece; Angelito Baban of Washington, D.C. and his Man Of Wild piece came in sixth; Jess Parrish of Longmont, CO and his Twilight Warrior finished sevent; and Don Harrison of Philadelphia, PA placed eighth for his piece “Flight.” Cash prizes were awarded to all participants.
Baltimore-based Ice Lab Ice Sculptures designed the festival’s signature piece, a patriotic-themed piece that was 12 feet tall by 15 feet wide and used more than five tons of ice.

Village at Leesburg features 55 national, regional and boutique retail shops and restaurants, including Wegmans, Cobb Village 12 Cinemas, LA Fitness, Ulta, Orvis, Firebirds, King Pinz Bowling Alley, Sweet & Sassy, and Travinia Italian Kitchen. The Rappaport Companies provide property management services and oversee leasing for the center.
