Warning Lights Approved for S. King Street Trail
The Town Council voted 7-0 last Tuesday to approve the warning lights near the Rt. 7 Bypass interchange ramps.

Flashing warning lights will be funded and installed at the S. King Street Trail crossing near the Route 7 Bypass interchange ramps north of the interchange bridge, after a 7-0 vote of approval last Tuesday by the Town Council.
Town staff recommended that the warning lights be installed in order to improve pedestrian safety. The project, which will include the study, design, preparation of VDOT permit application, and installation of the push button-activated flashing lights, is estimated to cost approximately $30,000.
According to town documents, unspent funds are available in the FY2012 Capital Improvement Program from other town-funded projects to cover the costs. The Town Council’s authorization was necessary in order to transfer the funds. Construction will be determined upon VDOT's approval.
