Winter Storm Warning for Leesburg
Wednesday will be a snowy mess, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow in Loudoun County from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
“Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous,” according to the NWS statement. “Only travel in an emergency.”
Accumulations are expected to reach 4 to 8 inches in the Blue Ridge Mountains and 1 to 3 inches elsewhere.

A mixture of rain an snow should change to all snow during the morning commute hours Wednesday. The heaviest snow is expected between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Roads are expected to be snow covered and slippery and visibility may be reduced below a half-mile at times, according to the NWS.
They also note that interstates will be covered in snow and that this will have a significant impact on holiday travel plans. Heavy amounts of wet snow may also cause downed trees and power outages.
