Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology Open House

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST), which serves as the Governor's Regional School for science and technology in Northern Virginia, will hold an Open House on Saturday, October 2, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Students who are currently in eighth grade, along with their parents, can learn about the school and its admissions process for the 2011-12 freshman class. On that day, families are invited to visit the school's state-of-the-art laboratories and tour the facilities at any time between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. Admissions information sessions will be held at 8:45, 9:45, and 10:45 a.m.

The deadline for submitting applications to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology for the 2011-12 freshman class is Friday, October 22. Applications will be available at all public middle schools in participating school districts and at many private schools after Monday, September 27. Students who attend schools that do not have applications may obtain applications at the Thomas Jefferson Admissions Office, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. after September 27.  The Thomas Jefferson Admissions Office is located at the Fairfax County Public Schools Gatehouse Administration Center, 8115 Gatehouse Road, Suite 2600, in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County, 571-423-3770.

TJHSST offers a comprehensive college preparatory program emphasizing the sciences, mathematics, and technology.  The school serves students who are selected on the basis of aptitude, prior academic achievement, and genuine interest and motivation in the biological, physical, mathematical, and computer sciences and who intend to pursue college preparation in the sciences, engineering, or related fields.
