Get ready to celebrate the Fourth of July Friday at Lorton's annual parade. The following are all the details:
This year’s event will take place Friday at 11 a.m. on Southbound Lorton Station Boulevard between Lorton Road and the Lorton Town Center. The parade will be staging behind the Lorton Fire Station 7701 Armistead Road up to 10:30 a.m.
The Parade moves north and lasts 30-45 minutes. Both directions of Lorton Station Boulevard will be closed between 10:45 am and 12 noon with the exception of access to the Lorton V.R.E. for parking.

The event will take place rain or shine.
This year’s Grand Marshall is Dave Collyer, who has lived in the Lorton area since 1973 and has served the community well in many capacities including multiple positions within the Mason Neck Lions Club. He has performed extensive work as a volunteer throughout the South County area of Fairfax County. Collyer has specialized in recycling eyeglasses and managing the operations of the Lions Hearing and Sight Vans.

"The community is honored to have Mr. Collyer who sets a fine example of one our local citizens in the countless hours he continues to devote to his community," parade organizers said.
The parade will feature horses, fire trucks, military, VIPs, community groups, unique cars and Uncle Sam.
Immediately following the parade, all are invited into the Lorton Town Center, where a community celebration will take place from 11 am-1 pm featuring live music and a dance performance from the Shiloh Baptist Church. There will be dozens of community exhibits including non-profits, businesses, church groups and entertainment. Food and drinks will be available.
From 9:30 am to 2:15 pm there will be two INOVA Blood Donor Services Bloodmobiles along with the Lion’s Sight and Hearing Van parked on Lorton Station Boulevard. Please schedule an appointment at 1-866-BLOODSAVES (1-866-256-6372). Sponsor Code: 7358 Anyone who completes the blood screening process will receive a T-shirt. (Note: There will not be childcare during donations, little ones must have someone else to watch them during the donation process.)
