1 Adult, 1 Juvenile Charged In Shooting Death Of 18-Year-Old Manassas Man

MANASSAS, VA – Two people have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of an 18-year-old in Manassas earlier in June.
According to the Prince William County Police Department, Markiss Alexander Medrano, 18, of Manassas, and a 16-year-old boy also from Manassas, have been charged with 2nd degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Both were arrested on Thursday. Medrano is being held without bond; the juvenile is being held in a juvenile detention center.
They are accused in the shooting death of Luis Angel Chavez, 18, of Manassas, who was found collapsed in a backyard on Parrish Lane on June 15. Police determined that the shooting had occurred in the Bull Run Mobile Home Community in the area of Peppertree Lane and Pebble Lane.

Police have said the crime did not appear to be random.
A bench warrant appears to have been issued for Medrano in Fairfax County General District Court in May when he failed to appear for a hearing on a reckless driving charge from February.

Chavez’s neighbors have been mourning the young man, who grew up in their Manassas community, and sharing memories on Facebook.
