Back To School: Manassas 2021-22 School Calendar

MANASSAS, VA — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Manassas, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Prince William County Schools and Manassas City Public Schools.

The first day of school for students in the City of Manassas is Thursday, Aug. 12. For students who attend a Prince William County public school, the first day is on Monday, Aug. 23.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. A mix of in-person, virtual and hybrid learning is still possible for schools in Prince William County and the City of Manassas.

The Prince William County school system has not yet announced a mask policy for the upcoming school year. However, new guidance released by the CDC has recommended all students in K-12 settings wear a mask. Some school districts in northern Virginia, including Fairfax County Public Schools, have already updated their mask guidelines for the upcoming school year in accordance with CDC recommendations.

Manassas City Public Schools

First Day: Thursday, Aug. 12

Thanksgiving Break: Wednesday Nov. 24 through Friday, Nov. 26

Winter Break: Monday, Dec. 20 through Monday, Jan. 3. Students return to school on Tuesday, Jan. 4.

Spring Break: Monday, April 11 through Friday, April 15

Last Day: Friday, May 27

Prince William County Public Schools

First Day: Monday, Aug. 23

Thanksgiving Break: Wednesday, Nov. 24 through Friday, Nov. 26

Winter Break: Begins on Monday, Dec. 20 and students return on Monday, Jan. 3

Spring Break: Monday, April 11 through Friday, April 15

Last Day: Wednesday, June 15

This school year's calendar is slightly different from past years in Prince William County. Students and teachers will receive two full weeks off for winter break. Four additional holidays were also approved throughout the year.
