Baseball Stadium Improvements To Cost County Six Figures: Media Report
Plans for new stadium at shopping center off I-95 have hit financial snags.

Prince William County supervisors are scheduled to vote Tuesday on stadium improvements that would keep the Potomac Nationals in their Woodbridge home through 2018.
The Class A minor league team has asked the county for $230,000 to pay for visitor clubhouse improvements required by Minor League Baseball. If the funding is approved, the team will likely sign a new lease to play at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium through the 2018 season, the Washington Business Journal reported. The county owns the 6,000-seat stadium.

But the 31-year-old stadium, behind the county government center off the Prince William Parkway, needs extensive upgrades, including repairs to the grandstand and possible replacement of the lighting, according to the Washington Business Journal. The county plans to spend $390,000 to fix the grandstand after the baseball season ends this summer.
Three years ago, plans were announced for a new 7,000-seat stadium near Interstate 95, in Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center. Since then, the project has hit financial snags, but Potomac Nationals owner Art Silber told the Business Journal that the team is committed to building and owning the stadium on a site near the shopping center.
