Cop Assaulted During Arrest in Gainesville: Police

Man allegedly had assaulted a woman earlier in the day, then kicked an arresting officer, according to Prince William County Police.

GAINESVILLE, VA — A man wanted for assaulting a woman Tuesday was later arrested but not before struggling with officers and kicking one of them in the 14700 block of Soapstone Drive, according to Prince William County Police.

Edy Ramirez-Hernandez, 22, of Gainesville, was charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, assault and batter and resisting arrest.

About 11:30 p.m., police arrived at the aforementioned address with an arrest warrant and confronted Ramirez-Hernandez, who became agitated and refused to go quietly.

He had been wanted for allegedly assaulting a 45-year-old woman earlier in the day.
