D.C. Streets Packed with Patriotism After Bin Laden's Death

The scene in D.C. after the news broke about the killing of Osama bin Laden.

Patriotic pandemonium poured through streets surrounding the White House Sunday night after the announcement of Osama bin Laden's death.

Thousands of people took to the streets in a grand celebration of the killing of Bin Laden 9 years, 7 months, and 3 weeks after the attacks of 9/11.

There was a massive mix of celebrating taking place; whether, people were hanging out of cars, standing in the trees, dangling from light poles, bouncing on pogo sticks, the people let it be known how important May 1, 2011 will be forever.

The noise that consumed the streets were a loud combination of unrelenting car horns, constant chants of U.S.A. and the slapping of high fives to just about everyone passing by. 

American flags of all shapes and sizes were displayed in the crowd as if it were an opening Olympic ceremony and the Fourth of July rolled into one. Flags were being worn as capes while some hung them from lacrosse sticks and waved them from treetops.

People of all races embraced in this unpredicted gathering and showed their support into the wee hours of the morning before slowly filing out close to 5 a.m.
