Driver Dies After Suffering Medical Emergency In Gainesville: Police
A Haymarket man died on Monday due to a medical emergency he suffered before crashing his car earlier this month, police said.

GAINESVILLLE, VA — A Haymarket man who suffered a medical emergency before a Gainesville car crash died on Monday, the Prince William County Police Department said. The crash occurred on Nov. 14.
Authorities identified the deceased man as 68-year-old Michael Earl Blaylock. The police department said he died due to the medical emergency and not from injuries suffered in the crash.
Another driver, a 60-year-old woman, was injured in the crash. Her injuries were not life-threatening, the police report said.

The crash occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Nov. 14 at the intersection of Lee Highway and Webb Drive in Gainesville. Blaylock was driving a Kia Optima when he had a medical emergency and drove through a red light at the intersection. He collided with a 2023 Toyota 4-Runner, authorities said.
First responders took Blaylock to an area hospital, where he died on Monday.

"Following the investigation, and due to indications the death resulted from the medical emergency and not from injuries from the collision, the case will be classified as a death, and not a fatal crash," the police department said in a report.
